Level 2 certificate in Gym Instructing

This is an entry level qualification which will provide you with a route to gym instruction and first step to becoming a Personal Trainer. During this course you will learn skills including conducting client consultations, writing fitness programs and delivering group functional activities.
Entry Requirements
Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended. The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.
Learners will cover:

- Anatomy, physiology and nutrition and how they relate to exercise and fitness.

Level 3 diploma in personal training

This course will enable you to be a qualified Personal Trainer. Industry standard qualification for those that have passed Level 2 in Gym Instructing and are looking to take the next steps in their career. During this course you will develop skills to plan periodised fitness plans, fitness testing and client measurements and nutrition.
Entry Requirements
Learners must hold a suitable level 2 qualification in gym instructing. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and maths involved, so learners should have basic skills in communication and maths pitched at level 2 (as a minimum).
Learners will cover:

- Further knowledge of anatomy and physiology applicable to personal training.
- Lifestyle and medical factors that affect wellbeing.
- Effective communication skills for client consultations to encourage healthy lifestyle behaviours and strategies for change.
- Skills to plan and conduct physical activity sessions with different types of clients in a variety of environments with a range of resources.
- Legal and professional requirements for personal training.
- How to set up and manage a personal training business on a self-employed basis if they wish to.
- How to manage, evaluate and improve own performance.

Level 3 diploma in gym instructing and personal training

This complete qualification is ideal for those who want to be a Personal Trainer but have no formal fitness qualifications. This course will take you through Level 2 Gym Instruction and you will finish Level 3 ready to start a role as a Personal Trainer.

Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Personal Training

For those with a Level 3 in Personal Training but want to set themselves aside from the competition. Further develop skills including Periodisation, interviewing and programming.
Entry Requirements
Learners must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (or equivalent). Learners must be able to apply factual and theoretical knowledge and be able to use a range of cognitive and practical skills to generate specific solutions for personal training clients. This will require learners to work in predictable and unpredictable situations using knowledge, skills and competencies pitched at level 4 on the RQF.
Learners will cover:

- Research, evaluation and use of credible research and information to inform personal training / coaching practice.
- Integration and application of technologies, digital and social media into personal training practice to support, enhance and manage the client journey.
- The application of behaviour change and communication techniques to support, enhance and manage the client journey.
- Assessment, performance analysis and evaluation to support, enhance and manage the client journey.
- Design and application of long-term periodisation, planning, coaching and evaluation to optimise client success.
